Charlottesville’s regional airport officially unveiled its new security checkpoint Thursday, just one part of an ongoing construction project.
Transportation Security Administration agents cut the ribbon on a new, state-of-the-art security checkpoint machine at Charlottesville Albemarle Airport, or CHO, that is designed to increase security efficiency and decrease waiting times. The area for the security checkpoint has also been renovated, more than tripling in size.
The Advanced Imaging Technology scanner, according to a release from the TSA, detects passengers not just for metallic objects on their person but for nonmetallic objects, as well.
